Finally arrived. . .

After 7 long years, Troy has finally been fully ordained a Deacon in Full Connection in the United Methodist Church! As a Deacon, Troy is called to ministries of word (i.e. preaching and / or teaching) and service (i.e. being a servant leader to and with congregations to help them be in service to the local church, community, and the world).

The day of ordination was June 6, 2006. That morning, Troy was able to address the North Texas Annual Conference for a total of 2 minutes! After that, he participated in a memorial service where he was honored to place a rose in memory of Rev. Dr. Robert Allen who passed away this last January. Following that, Troy received his "official" Deacon's pin at the Deacon's lunch and also participated in a short service of being welcomed into the Order of Deacons.

The ordination service took place at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. The preacher was Bishop Hope Morgan Ward, and she was very inspiring. Troy was honored to have so many people from First UMC Lewisville, Grace Avenue UMC in Frisco, and First UMC Wichita Falls participate in this special time.
